- Hypersensitivity to any component or to egg, soya or peanut protein
- Inborn errors of amino acid metabolism
- Severe hypertriglyceridaemia (above 1,000 mg/dl, 11.4 mmol/l)
- Severe blood coagulation disorders
- Hyperglycaemia requiring more than 6 units of insulin per hour
- Acidosis
- Intrahepatic cholestasis
- Severe hepatic insufficiency
- Severe renal insufficiency without haemofiltration or dialysis
- Worsening haemorrhagic diatheses
- Acute thromboembolic events
- Fat embolism
- Children under 2 years of age
- Unstable circulation with vital threat (e.g. collapse, shock)
- Acute myocardial infarction or stroke
- Unstable metabolic condition (e.g. severe post-aggression syndrome, coma of unknown origin)
- Inadequate cellular oxygen supply (hypoxia)
- Disturbances of electrolyte and fluid balance
- Acute pulmonary oedema
- Decompensated cardiac insufficiency
